ICE Shooting! Renee Nicole Good Killed!

On January 7, 2026, a fatal shooting involving a federal U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer occurred in south Minneapolis, Minnesota. The incident took place during an intensification of federal immigration enforcement actions in the city.

Key Details of the Shooting

  • Victim: Identified as Renee Nicole Good, 37, a U.S. citizen and resident of the Twin Cities.
  • Location: The intersection of East 34th Street and Portland Avenue in Minneapolis.
  • Circumstances: Witnesses stated federal agents blocked a vehicle (a Honda Pilot or burgundy SUV). After an agent attempted to open the driver's door, the motorist moved the vehicle in reverse and then forward. Witnesses reported hearing approximately three shots fired through the driver's side window.
  • Conflicting Accounts:
    • Federal Account: DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and other officials characterized the driver's actions as "weaponizing her vehicle" and an "act of domestic terrorism," stating the officer fired in self-defense.
    • Local Response: Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz disputed this narrative after viewing video footage of the incident. Mayor Frey called the self-defense claim "garbage" and demanded ICE leave the city.
